Shifting the frame, little by little

At 14 years old and cocksure, I dialed up to the Internet for the first time. The people with whom I corresponded brought a stream of information that crashed against my fundamentalist worldview. I resisted at first. But over time, thanks to their patience, my mind gradually opened.

Years passed, and I became engulfed in the hype of every byte of new knowledge, which I would excitedly download onto others. If they only had the same information, they’d get it! This didn’t just fail, it backfired.

Now, through successfully changing my health and mindsets, I’ve learned real, lasting change happens little by little. The most you can do is help someone see something differently, pique their curiosity, and hopefully they’ll want to change on their own.
